The Soboba microgrid will work in energy savings mode when the utility is available and will also back up the facility for short-term and long-term outages. Distributed, on-site power generation future-proofs power availability and equips tribal communities with a competitive advantage on energy costs over the traditional utility service. Historically, Tribal communities suffer from higher service costs, higher interconnection fees, more blackouts or brownouts, and remote and distant service locations. Scale will build and install a microgrid for the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians (Soboba) at its Soboba Casino Resort that will serve as both an economic asset for the tribe and an emergency cooling center in the event of a community-wide power outage. SANTA MONICA, Calif.-( BUSINESS WIRE)-As part of their strategic initiative to rapidly deploy cleaner and more resilient energy infrastructure across tribal lands, Scale Microgrids (“Scale”) is announcing an exciting new project with the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians.
